Ambassadors of surf-punk, hailing from all corners of Naarm/Melb.
Stimpies’ music and aesthetic embodies an exploration of the Australian lifestyle, the burn of the seatbelt getting into your car in 45 degree weather, the refreshing and repetitious comfort of wave after wave at the beach.
We’re a four-piece surf-punk band making shit house noise, made up of drummer and backing vocalist Ethan Robins, bassist Bec Wigg, lead guitar and lead vocalist Ned McKenna and guitarist Xavier Ambrosius.
We decided to start the band in early 2019, releasing our self-titled EP by December of the same year, along with a sold out launch at Wrangler Studios. Come January 2020, we played Exude Group’s own U:Time Festival and a bushfire benefit concert at The Gasometer Upstairs with local legends The Grogans, following that with a Pure Nowhere show with The Belair Lip Bombs and Velvet Bloom. We recently joined two major VIC tour lineups, with Kingswood in late 2021 and The Vanns in early 2022.
Stimpies’ latest single, Frankly Federal Slander, released on Saturday 26th February, recorded and mastered at Coloursound Recording Studio. This new release for 2022 is the first of many new additions to Stimpies’ catalogue of songs throughout the year, and signals a momentuous shift in the band’s overall direction.
